The original Town Hall

An object next to the existing Town Hall has undergone many transformations – originally a Renaissance building changed into the Empire form. The building originally had an outdoor staircase and a large boardroom oriented to the square. The Town Hall pub on the ground floor was once rented by T. G. Masaryk’s ancestor.
Below the object, there used to be large, two-storey Gothic cellars used as a torture chamber in the Middle Ages. The Town Hall was connected via underground corridor with the original, fortified church building. After frequent fires, the building has not been restored to its purpose.
